so I just bought a refurbished Gateway SX2110 ITX based desktop system (220W power supply), some sort of acer mobo, with a AMD E1 1200 CPU. From the little bit of research I've done it looks like this chip is an 18W chip, usually used in a laptop/netbook situation.

This chip is just a little bit weak from a performance standpoint and I was wondering if an AMD A4 at 65W would be compatible with this system.

Thanks guys, that's what I suspected, but I couldn't find the documentation on the subject anywhere. I'll probably just get a better video card to take the extra strain off the CPU and call er good. I bought it mainly for movie watching, and internet surfing anyway since it's hooked up to my TV.

How much RAM does it have? My father has an HTPC with an E-450. At first, it had 1 GB of RAM and served its HTPC purpose well. It struggled however, with 1080p video. Then he upgraded the RAM to 2 GB and it is now, as I speak, playing 1080p streaming videos.

Upgrading the RAM will increase the VRAM size, and increase it's capability.

It's was a very generous stock system. 4GB DDR3 1333 and for what I use I for, I don't think I need anymore than that. I'm thinking of adding a TV tuner device so I can record TV shows and I don't think the AMD integrated video can handle it. I'll probably get a 1gb MSI PCI express card for $50 from newegg.
