What make/model is the motherboard?

The text nearest to the header is for the pins directly above it, the text closer to the edge of the motherboard go on the pins to the rear of the header. Not always the case, the header is colour-coded to match the wires, sometimes. The text on the connector usually faces towards the edge of the motherboard, mostly... Some older motherboards don't even have text labels for the header so then you have to refer to the manual PDF of the motherboard, which might actually be a better option, anyhow.

The motherboard needs a brain (cpu) otherwise you might fry the cpu socket.

Edit - Your motherboard? it refers to Asus Sabertooth p67 Revision 3.

You should download the manual, there is much in it to provide you with all the information you need.
