I have a custom PC built around a Gigabyte GA-78LMTUSB3 motherboard with an AMD FX4170 processor, 8 GB memory and Win7

A few weeks ago I had a crash after I had a power outage while in suspend mode. The solution I found on the forums was to short the CMOS and reinstall default BIOS in the setup screen. Since then I've had poor performance (long startup, drives seeming to spin for long periods). I've tried loading 'optimised BIOS' from the setup screen but to no benefit.

Any suggestions?

A system crash after a power outage doesn't require resetting the BIOS settings. What was the issue that required shorting the CMOS jumper pins? Flashing the BIOS as suggested by BerylLee will work only if the BIOS is corrupted.
