hi all--

im probably in the wrong thread here, but im at a complete lost.
specs: i5 3570k
asrock z77e-itx
msi radeon 7950
8gb corsair vengance
256 ssd
I can get great FPS in bf3 but its just not smooth at all. Is it a result of using 60hz monitor. (my dvi-d dual link cable is on the way, so well see if 120hz solves the problem)

am i missing out on any key drivers??
please help, this is pissing me off!!

i have it maxed out.. even if i drop the settings it makes no difference. as far as v sync, is there a setting in bf3 for that or on CCC..its usually on.. im reinstalling bf3 again, so ill go ahead and check if vsync is on. thanks

What is running in the background?
Can you monitor CPU usage?
How are your temps (CPU, GPU)?
Watch MSI afterburner--
Look at the GPU usage: Is it constant?
Are the clocks fluctuating?
What does the frametime graph show?

I'll retest this again, but from off the top of my head..
running fraps(sometimes), msi afterburner(sometimes), and battloelog open in chrome because thats trhe only way to get into a game..
I'm pretty sure my CPU usage isn't that high(i will get a number soon), but my GPU usage stays constant at full load, 99%, only when i alt tab out it'll fluctuate, but thats it. depending on if i have an OC on my gpu of 1050/1500, it can reach 77C, it no OC then less then that.
as far as the clock flucuating i'll have to check again for you. But lemme know if this helps?

jUST took a look...
OC CPU to 4.2gh
OC GPU 1050/1500

this time the gpu usage flucuated from 87-91% load? which i havnjt seen before @79C
CPU usage was 60-80% at 60-70C..
I turned vsync on and it helped a little bit but didn't fix the entire problem...Maybe 120hz monitor will look better??!?

yeah i turned off my oc on my cpu until i get better cooling. Also I tinkered with my gpu and Oc'ed it to 1100/1500 with 10% increase in voltage with fan up to 85 and it kept it sub 70C which was a relief...maybe tops out 75..
anyways I reinstalled bf3 again..now theres green hills and random forrests. I read bout yellow roads and how to fix, but no luck...apparently it haS to do with a windows update (KB2670838) some poeple have had luck others not so much.... I can't even find that update on my computer. It is a brand new computer and when i updated my windows i updated about 110 updates 8|.

I had the same problem with my I5 2500k overclocked to 4.5ghz. My CPU was running at 90C and made my BF3 (choppy, stutter, lag, freezing) unplayable, due to cpu throttling. You may want to re-install your cpu cooler. This same suggestion was made on this forum, to me - which I didn't believe, but after re-installing the cooler 3 times, I finally got highest temps of 60C on Ultra settings.

Back then, my specs were:
I5 2500k OC to 4.5ghz (Turbo function automatically overclocked my cpu to 4.2ghz on demand anyway so I removed the O.C eventually)
Coolermaster Hyper 212 cpu air cooler.
16gb RAM
HD6970 stock speed

Unfortunately, I'm experiencing massive blur, stutter in my current config when playing BF3 on "auto" settings (Ultra)
I7 2700k stock
2 x HD6970 in crossfire stock speed
CM Hyper 212 cpu cooler
16gb RAM
3 x 23" Asus gaming monitors

Playing in 5760 x 1080,
temps are fine (still high of around 60C),
Only getting about 25-35 fps on Ultra. Massive blur, stuttering, freezing. Not really playable.
HIgh setting - 40-50 fps. Massive blur and some stuttering
medium - 50-60 fps. still alot of bluring
low - 50-60 fps. Still some bluring during movement, but now I can identify enemy if I come across them. No stuttering.
something is wrong. With as much cpu gpu power, I should be smooth at ultra.
