every single build i have had so far has been an radeon build however with the new nvidia line coming out very soon and me thinking of a new build i was wondering if i should take a look at the new 780 or the new 8970. I was thinking of the 7970 or the 8970 but the 780 seems to have very good specs. I do not need to build the system until the end of the year. furthermore when are the 8970 coming out and will it be a significant improvement over the 7970? what about the 780 vs the 680? I will be using the computer for heavy gaming, medium overclocks, and photo/video editing.

If you want one soon:
Wait a week for the gtx 780
If you have enough patience:
Wait for the "rumored" 9970. AMD is skipping past the 8000 series for desktop gpus and only making mobile 8000 series.
The 9970 is "rumored" to be having 4096 stream processors. Thats a %*!#ing HUGE amount!!
If its priced the same as a 7970, then if you are patient enough, i would say that.

The GTX 780 will be around 600-800 dollars.
The GTX 770 will probably be around 375-450

Any of those 3 cards will make you happy. If you are patient, wait for the 9970. If you want insane performance, wait a week for 780. If you want good bang for buck get a 770.

No one knows if they will or not yet.. Its just a rumor that appeared on toms hardware articles a couple weaks back.
Most likely 2013 Q4 or 2014 Q1 would be my guess. If they do release it, im upgrading to a 9970!! That thing would be a tank!!!

No kidding!!! It seems to me like it is very similar specs to the 7990... If that is true, it could take the title as fastest gpu in the world. Only time will tell.
