Hey community, I have the gtx 680 ftw+ sli,8 gb ram, 1tb western digital hdd, i72600k cpu at 4.4ghz, antec earthwatts 750 wt psu, realtek hd audio card. I saw a benchmark on geforce.com with the 314.22 drivers the 680 sli get's ~170fps at 1920x1080, dx9, very high detail, no physx, and fxaa high. I have my overclocked gtx 680 ftw +'s at 1200 ghz, and am using extreme detail settings instead on very high, dx9, patched steam batman ac, 4xaa plus smaa injector high, and physx high. My questions are why am I still getting those horrible stutters and fps drops using dx9, and why is my fps(getting 55-low 80s-55 or so during stutters) getting cut so much just from a few extra settings on my very beefy rig. Actually one more question to Rocksteady is what did they do with optimization?! Lol, batman aa was so optimized. Thanks guys

PhysX. Batman AC is pretty buggy, and most everything I've seen says to use Dx9 and no PhysX. You might also find a FPS limiter can make the game feel smoother, as the fluctuations of FPS may affect you more than others.

I thank you for your input. I raised the smoothed framerate max in the config file from 62 up to my monitor refresh rate of 120. Should I still put vsync on?

Update to the latest version of Physx and patch the game.Go to your My documents folder and find this folder-
WB Games\BatmanArkhamCity\BmGame\Config and delete (after taking backups ;)  ) the files bmgame, userengine and bmengine.Start the game,re-configure your settings and post back with your results.I found this fix on the EVGA forums and all credit goes to them.Hope this helps. :)

Thanks a lot man. I will try this as soon as I get a chance. Also, I have patched the game, and have the latest version of physx. Are you suggesting I uninstall the driver one and look to download physx separately from the driver?

I have an AMD card so Physx always came separately. :)  The latest NVIDIA drivers should have the latest version of Physx. :)

I have to say, it has helped a lot but hasn't totally eliminated the strange fps drops. I want to thank you friend :)  Take care and all the best!

You are welcome. :)  However,as I wrote before ,all credit goes to the EVGA forums. It won't eliminate the stuttering completely but it does reduce it by a large amount.
All the best to you as well.:)
