I have just finished setting up a small (8 machine) network. However, the printer is causing difficulties. Its connected to the switch, alongside all the other pc's, which all have drivers installed. Can someone guide me through how i would go about getting the pcs ( which are running Xp proffesional 32 bit) to see the printer?

This should work:

-Firstly find the printers ip address (if it has a display look on the menu settings and set it up if you have not already)
-Go start, printers and faxes
-Add printer
-Local printer attached to this drive (not network & untick plug & play)
-Create new port, and select "Standard TCP/IP port" from the drop down
-Then where it says printer name or ip, put the printers ip address in (leave bottom box as what it is)
-Leave as "Genenric Network Card" on the next step
-Then complete setup and select the correct driver

This is how I did it on a network setup and it works fine. Any issues let me know

Cheers for the help. The printer does not have a display, but i shall use a laptop to find the ports IP address. I won't be able to test this until tomorrow, but thank you in advance.

thanks for the help. after resetting the printer to factory defaults it has worked. is it just a case of sharing it to make it available to all PC's on the Network?
