Running an i5 3570k, with a very very average asetek 510 liquid cooler....is 70C to hot while gaming? could this be causing bf3 to not run smooth? Eventhough i run crysis 3 great?!?

Actually I've got it to mid to high 50s (~59) while playing crysis 3.. At 3.3 @ 1.06 V at the moment, i've fooled around with OC a bit, just test runs

That is VERY high heat for 1.06 V... Have you checked to see if your cooler is all installed correctly? Thermal paste all put on properly? Etc etc? That is very high for 3.3...

Even the idle is a little high... The stock cooler is better.

Go to the store, buy some thermal paste, and redo it. If there's not thermal paste under it, that is MUCH MUCH worse than just "some messed up thermal paste." Redo it, 70C is very, very high for a stock-clock (or even underclocked in your case... 3.3 is less than stock clock) water cooled rig.

if I take off the cooler and the thermal paste is on there can I put the cooler back on until i order something new from newegg?
thinking either evo212, corsair h70 or h100i, any thoughts?

Dont take it off unless you have thermal paste to replace the messed up, or nonexistent thermal paste already there. I really reccomend you just go purchase some thermal paste at the nearest store and redo it, it is usually very inexpensive.

Though if you're looking for a newer cooler, dont go for it yet. Redo the paste, your temps may drop by 20C at load, as your current temps right now are sortof insane. If you're still not satisfied afterwards, the H100i is the best of the bunch, followed by the H70 and the 212, but they're all very good.

hah well shit now you got me stressing because I've heard of to many different things about the temps so far.. SO is this the issue of why bf3 is running choppy for me even at 60 fps?

It's very possible that your CPU is thermal throttling due to the very high temps.

Before buying anything, just replace the paste. That way, you don't buy a cooler you wont need when you change the paste and find out that the temps are fine with the cooler you already have. You can't lose. You have to replace the paste either way anyways.

What frequency? If you are running stock I would say that's a little warm but nothing that is cause for concern. You are well within the thermal limits of the CPU. I wouldn't worry to much but I would suggest you get a better heatsink in the near future.

If you are running at stock frequency and getting temps that high it sounds like that cooler is not much better than stock Lol. You could get a $25 Hyper 212+ that would drop your temps 10-20C depending on other factors like case airflow and the like.

i5-3570K's with stock coolers get only around 50-55C at load. 70C is ridiculous high.

Wow that's pretty good for a stock cooler actually. Even with the CPU at stock my 2600k would jump to 65c on the stock cooler and that's with an ANTEC 1200 V3 Lol. That cooler stunk so bad.

But anywho I get what your saying I was just reassuring the OP his temps aren't in the insanely unsafe levels or anything. Definately high though.

I think we as builders put to much thought into temps considering I remember growing up seeing ancient P3-P4 pc's running on stock cooler and a mountain of dust for years at a time running at full bore.
