I just bought a new dvi cable. First i plugged it into my motherboard by accident so I shut it down and plugged it into my gtx 680. It will not start with my gtx 680 and only my motherboard now. My gtx680 still starts up however since the fan still runs.
What can I do to fix this.

Try removing the card and running on the MB video for a bit. Then shut down and install the card, hook it up, and boot up again. See if that corrects the auto video switching in BIOS.
