Ok so here is my rig right now:

-FX-8350 OC'd to 4.5 Ghz
-Corsair H55 Water Cooler
-MSI 970A-G46 AMD 9 Series Mobo
-Patriot Viper 3 Intel Extreme Masters 16Gb (1600Mhz)
-800W Power Supply
-1080p Monitor

The GTX 670 I have right now is a Gigabyte Windforce 2Gb OC'd (+100 Clock|+225 Mem)
: LINK :
The thing i want to know is if i should sell the GTX 670 and get a GTX 780 or should i just get another GTX 670 and run them in SLI?

Which would have the best performance for games like BF3 and the upcoming BF4?

I don't know about other people but this is my opinion. U can oc that processor to 5 MHz easily then get the 780. I personally hate sli cause of stuttering. I am not sure but even with the oc with amd I feel like the 780 will get bottlenecked so for multithreaded games their might be a lack of Fps but u will dominate in single threaded games. I don't know about u but I would just keep the 670 and save ur money. I'm running the 670 ftw with an amd 6100 overclocked to 4.1 ghz an I'm get 80 fps puls in bf3 everything on ultra. If ur getting 60 to 70 plus fps in bf3 u should be fine with bf4. I'm all about saving money tho so.

Thanks for the reply, i currently get around 80-90 fps in BF3 so i will probably stick with it for now and see what happens when BF4 comes around

Probably wait for Black Friday or Cyber Monday, which is just around the corner. I'm in the same predicament as you and this is my option. I don't know how TD and Newegg will price their high end GPUs though. Fingers crossed.

I ended up getting another gtx 670 FTW by the way. I was in the same position as you. And now i score better then 95 percent of all the people who use 3d mark so it was worth it.

i'm planning on getting a second 680 in SLI on the same mobo as you, but i have a FX-6300. you think it would handle another 680?

fx-6300 will bottleneck a gtx 680
to op:
buy another 670 because 780 is pretty darn expensive

http:// is what AnandTech has for a single GPU comparison between the two. Either way I'd also copy some of the other post and say wait for "Black Friday" or the post Christmas Sales.

So i have had my 670 FTW SLI setup for a few months now. Its actually insane with BF4. Its wierd though becuase in BF3 i would only Average 70 to 80 FPS per map. But in BF4 im averging 100+ FPS on every map with settings on ultra and 8x AA, sometimes even averaging 130 FPS on enclosed small maps.

My specs:
AMD fx 8350 OCed to 5.0GHZ
H80 Water Cooler
2X GTX 670 FTW SLI Oced
850 WATT EVGA psu
Gigabnyte 990fx-UD3
8 GB vengence RAM
8 case fans
WIndows 8.1 Pro
120 GB SSD

when playing bf4, my fx 6300 and gtx 680 and 2x4 8gb of 1866 ram handles ultra settings like a beast, vsync on, 1080p in campaign. but in multiplayer, i lag like a mofo, i dont know if it's because im on windows 7, or if my amd fx 6300 is taking too much load in multiplayer. a buddy of mine has a 6 core 3930k with gtx 580 and 32 gb of 1600mhz ram on windows 7, he doesnt lag at all online. o course the 3930k is alot more powerful per core than my amd fx 6300. or could it be that he has enough RAM to hold the entire BF4 game. any thoughts?

Have you tired unparking your cores? I got more FPS out of mine when I did it, and I have an I5 3570K. Also try putting the CPU priority of the game to a lower setting in task manager.

yep, unparked, tried that all priority settings. it still lags online. i dont understand, i know the EA servers have been kinda messing up, but how is it that some people play with no lag at all then? i got the extreme internet plan from comcast, i know its not my internet. i guess the cheapest way to find out is to upgrade to windows 8, then to 8.1, that way i can keep my apps. then try another set of 2x4 1866mhz ram, if the OS thing doesnt work.

Have you run test on all your equipment i.e. RAM, PSU, etc. I've seen cases where a faulty RAM stick or PSU stutter can drag down performance at times. Also if your hardware is completely good, update drivers, BIOS etc..sometimes those maybe guilty as well. Recently what I personally run into is, I'm playing just fine and then then screen freezes and music sounds like Skrillex. Have to Ctrl+Alt+Delete...loose all gains made that round. OH well, it is a brand new game right?

You lag? Your on COMCAST, lol, it doesn't matter what plan your on, you can be speedy quick at times, and other times lag horribly. I know first hand. It all depends how much traffic is on your line when playing. Probably has nothing to do with your CPU or video cards, more like your internet provider. Comcast sucks. If you want to get rid of internet bottlenecks try FIOS or something similar. Traffic doesn't affect FIOS etc like cable.

I've never used Comcast but ZippyPinhed is correct about FIOS...if you are in their service area or Google Fiber's area jump on it if you can afford it.

Oh, and yeah Id go with the 670.....2 of those will have better performance than a single 780. Take the money saved and upgrade your LCD panel to an Asus or BenQ panel that runs at 120/144hz and use the display port connector and see what you have been MISSING! =D Plus you will get rid of most of the tear and stuttering too if you have any.

i just looked up FIOS, and all i got to say is not bad. i think i might switch to their fastest plan, you know of any discounts if you also use verizon as your mobile carrier?

You would have to call up your local office to see if they offer any discount plans. Just remember with FIOS, regardless if one or 1000 people on your street/bock are online, your connection throughput doesn't slow down or speed up. So if you have say a 30/15mbps connection, that is exactly what you will get 24/7 365 a year. With Comcast you can have a much higher spec plan, and your upload/download thruput and ping will be poor in comparison still. FIOS rocks for gaming.

The bandwidth doesn't exactly work like that...but you only loose a couple of megs to overhead...but everything else is spot on.
