Hi folks,
I have zero experience with laptops and have always assumed that even an old desktop will usually be better than a new laptop when it comes to video gaming, video editing, etc. However, I ordered a laptop as a desktop replacement plus some extra components I'll add and I've been looking at these specs and it seems the CPUs and Video Cards have come a long way...
Would you folks be so kind as to compare the two systems below and tell me which would be better at gaming and video editing respectively?
Desktop, built it in 2009:
1 x EVGA GeForce GTX 295 1792MB 896 (448 x 2)-bit
1 x Intel Core i7-920 Bloomfield 2.66GHz LGA 1366 130W Quad-Core Processor
1 x CORSAIR DOMINATOR 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Triple Channel Kit
1 x EVGA E758-A1 3-Way SLI (x16/x16/x8) LGA 1366 Intel X58 ATX Intel Motherboard
1x plain old hard drive disk
or
Laptop, on its way from Toshiba
Qosmio X870 customized
Intel Core i7-3630QM quad core processor
Nvidia GTX 670M 3GB dedicated graphics with Optimu
128GB solid state SATA drive
Corsair Vengeance 32GB (4x8GB) DDR3 1600 MHz (PC3 12800)
Your input would be appreciated and of course I mean excluding other factors like screen size (lets say for sake of argument that both of these have a 17.3 in screen).
Thanks
