Since Haswell is around the corner and i can get the ivy 3770 for about $250 online, I wonder if I should wait for Haswell or just go with 3770 now.

I want to finish building my new desktop by mid June. I have most of my parts decided except CPU and Motherboard.
Also, I'm not planning to OC or upgrade the system within the next 3-4 years.
My current system is just i5-650 and is ~5 years old. So this will be a completely new system for me.

What is your opinion on this? Thanks in advance.

How about the M/B, will the new socket last more than 4 years. I meant you can use LGA1050 for upgrading even after 4 years?
I believe if there will be a newer socket out in the next 4 years, buying LGA1050 and 1055 would be the same to me somehow.

Thanks

Based on preliminary benchmarks Haswell is on average 10% more powerful than Ivy Bridge.

The expected price is about $350 and Z77 socket 1150 mobo will likely be $20 - $60 more than a comparable Z87 socket 1155 mobo depending on the premium components.

I believe that the new mobo should be more expensive, so I guess your Z77 and Z87 are switched place.

But based on your info, I just think that if I wait, I should just get the 4670k instead of the 4770. Or else it will hurt my budget.
Do you think 4670k would still be a better option than 3770 in this case?

and this socket will last only until 2015. that's so quick!
