Hi there,

I recently bought a new computer and it's all good, apart from the fact that a fan in it is rather noisy.

However, I don't know what fan is making the noise.

If anyone could give me any advice into how to find which fan is making the noise and then lower the RPM that would be great.

Thanks in advance,

Mullac

Bust open the side panel and have a look, if there are any wires in the way of fans that could be causing a ticking noise. If its more of a whining you could unplug fans and see if anything changes. Replace or just leave unplugged the fan that's causing the issue.

If it turns out to be the CPU fan, your kind of out of luck. I'm guessing since you bought the computer that replacing the CPU heatsink isn't within your comfort zone. You could use a program like Speedfan to setup a fan profile so that it spins slower when the CPU's idling and only speeds up when under load. That would help alleviate it but not fix the issue.
