While trying to backup my files on an external hard disk I copied the whole user file which included the active desktop icons and programmes. But each time I boot my computer it brings an error message "E:\ Desktop means a file that is unavailable" and some of programe files won't open because of this. Please how do I rectify this problem? Thank you.

It sounds like you've messed up the boot files, as the C drive is usually the boot drive. I'm guessing the E drive is your external?
You'll need to repair your BCD. Follow this guide:
