After finally wiring my first computer, I hesitantly decided everything was wired in correctly and plugged my computer in. Nothing. Nothing turned on in my computer, no sounds, no fans started moving, nothing changed when I turned it on. Could my PSU be DOA?

More about : computer turning

Test your PSU by shorting the GREEN WIRE with any BLACK WIRE with a piece of wire, see the fan of PSU turns or not. If it's spinning than nothing is wrong with your PSU.

Say your PSU is good than double check the connections. Else disassemble everything and start from the scratch. Take your time, all will be fine.

Also check if there's a switch on your psu. Toggle it if necessary. Do recheck that you have properly connected the front panel headers too :)  Then by all means push the start button...

It's not the PSU, I had made some mistakes, I fixed them, and it did turn on! But..... Only for a millisecond before shutting itself off. And then it won't turn on again until I disconnect it and reconnect it.

Hi, do one thing :

Take out every component from your Computer case.

1. Put your MB on a wooden table or Cardboard box make sure it's clean.

2. Now attach the CPU, GPU, 1 stick of RAM, HDD(no SSD) and PSU, Monitor. Nothing else.

3. Short the MB with a screwdriver/coin etc, to start the system. If you don't know how to do it, google it. Refer to your MB manual. Be steady and don't touch any other metal part of MB.

4. Test to see if it's working. then you can attach your KB and Mouse.

May be something is shorting between your MB and cabinet. May be your cabinet has bad electronics(front panel).
This method is called "BreadBording". There is no harm trying it. I think now I am clear to you.

And what do I do if it does work?

Then you can be sure that either you are making some mistakes or your cabinet is bad. If it works outside the cabinet and not inside than likely the case is bad(bad electronics). Find a good reliable cabinet from a named brand.

BTW did you put the MB's standoff's ? Did you get all the wirings correctly ? Please post your full Computer Specs.

Glad to hear that.

Two of the fans were plugged into each others port and switching them fixed it.
