Hey!

Is it just me or is there ridiculous fps drops on certain maps (especially strike at karkand)_

specs:
Nvidia Titan 320.18
overclocked to 106% power target, 140+ gpu clock offset, 100mhz mem clock offset
i7 3770 3.4ghz
16gb ram
windows 8
c2 850w silent pro psu

bf3 - ultra 1920x1080

looking towards the middle of the map i can go as low as 50 fps! both in 64 players and in 32 player...

is it my rig or the map? (it also drops not as extreme, on other maps too at times)

I am just wondering if this is unusual and if there is a fix... thanks!

Yes it would, any processor can bottleneck any system.

BF3 is a very CPU intensive game, you really should have gone with the K version to alleviate bottlenecks.

I have a 1090t and i runs smooth, at only 3,7ghz

Your cpu is one of THE best, so it cant be that man.

I don't know why people don't think its not a CPU bottleneck. I'm using a overclocked 780 and 3570k at 4.5, CPU usage is above 80% on all cores, GPU is around 60% and getting dips to 80FPS.

Dude, it might be true but he has a 850w with ONE titan, is HIGHLY unlikely....

Can you install Hardware Monitor (http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/hwmonitor.html) and have it running while you game for a bit? Then can you report what your max logged temps are for the CPU and GPU? There's a chance you have thermal throttling.

the psu is a m2 cool master silent pro 80 plus silver (whatever that means) I feel like it should be enough power.. as long as i connected the cables and whatnot correctly.

I am downloading and will check and post results soon

So you may be experiencing throttling. 91C is pretty damn hot and not what the Titan typically operates at. That may be your problem. Even if it isn't you want to keep those temps under 80.

That was from AnandTech. Try lowering your overclock or increase the cooling capacity of your case.

FYI: Furmark burn-ins peg the Titan at 80C so you shouldn't be hitting 90 on a game. Another site (LINK) showed the card sitting at 67C at load, and 76C overclocked.

Turn on v-sync. I have 2 Titans and they only run 40-50% when I'm playing Battlefield 3 at 2560x1440. It can't be CPU bottlenecking either considering I have an i7 3930K overclocked to 4.4GHz. At least with v-sync, you'll eliminate those dips as your GPU will always stay at 60FPS (or whatever your refresh rate is). It's the same thing with Borderlands 2. I only get 30% usage out of my Titans with it. You will also keep temps down with v-sync. I rarely go above 60C on either card when playing Battlefield 3.

Yeh I thought it was pretty hot, I am planning on getting some better cooling here.
Although if I turn my fan speed up it goes in the 78-80 range and seems to still give me the same fps

ok did so and now in the same areas the minimum it drops to (ultra, strike at karkand looking into the center, 64 players) is 59 fps (fluctuates 59-61 fps)

sadly now that its capped at 60 it doesnt feel as smooth as before :)
