I have a Macbook Pro 15" (Mid 2010). I have always loved the screen. I find it extremely clear, vibrant and easy to look at for long periods of time. I have no issue with the gloss. I can comfortable work on it for 12 hours with no issues.
I recently bought a PC (So I can do heavy 3d work) and have found the screen that I bought hurts my eyes to focus on. It's a Dell U2312HM. I has a very subtle flicker to it at all times and subtle gradients look poor. It got good reviews so I am perplexed as to why it looks so cheap compared to my Macbook screen.
I have tried many calibration options with the U2312HM but cannot escape the uncomfortable sensation my eyes and head that occur almost immediately when using it. I tried to adjust to it for a few days but nothing has changed. I switched back to using only my Macbook today and have sworn to find a screen that is as comfortable to use.
What I'd like to hear is advice on how to pick the best possible screen that will match the Macbook screen in clarity, vibrance, smoothness of gradients and not have any kind of cheap flicker to it.
I would prefer glossy but I know that's very difficult outside of Apple. I also don't want a screen larger than 24" so the Apple Cinema Display is not an option.
I am located in Australia.
Any help would be appreciated!
