benq gl2450hm monitor help !!

So i just brought a BENQ GL2450HM-24 inch monitor and the hdmi mode does not work. i am currently operating via vga mode and the colors look over-saturated.
In the hdmi mode only the desktop wallpaper can be seen(when i am in the desktop)and i cant access any icons or options.the screen looks stretched .
please help ! Should i replace the monitor or i am doing something wrong.
i am operating the monitor with a Nvidia GTX 560ti(all drivers updated).

it sounds like you're doing something wrong. make sure ONLY the HDMI connector is the ONLY video/audio cable attached to the monitor, and coming out of the PC.
