external hdd not working

my external hdd works on tv but doesnt come up on computer it asks to format help plz tried chkdsk but doesnt complete

A new HDD needs to be formatted in order to work mate.

I must be the problem of incompatible drive file system. Try to format this drive into the file system that computer supports, such as NTFS.
