Looking for a low budget quality desktop

I am looking for a new computer to be able to run games on pretty good quality. My old computer crashes for certain games so I'm looking for a new one on the lower half of $1,000. The game I probably play the most is Minecraft. I want to be able to run it on full quality graphics settings. I might also play games like Portal 2 and it would be nice for pretty good quality on that. I'm wondering what the best bargain would be for a new PC or what Processor/Graphics Card I need or what RAM I need. Please help!

Righto.

I take it you have a screen, keyboard and mouse already.

Maybe there's parts you can pull from your old computer. Like the HDD.
