why does "passmark" gives totally different results than TomsHardware charts ?

here, for example, the Transcend 256GB SSD720 gives 4200 points

while the Samsung 840 pro, gives 3504 points

but according to TomsHardware charts, gives Samsung 840 pro, the upper hand: http://www.tomshardware.com/charts/ssd-charts-2012/benchmarks,129.html


what are they doing differently ?

I don't know either of the mentioned drives model# to look them up on harddrivebenchmark and I dont see passmark listed in toms charts.

But off the top of my head I would say that passmark is an avg of multiple testings over many different user configurations while toms is limited to their testing and their configurations. Firmware version of the ssd would also be a consideration.

Interesting... so what you're saying, is that the first link, which based on multiple user's systems- is actually the more reliable one... because it's less of a "lab testing" and more of a "real life experience"... am i correct ?
