Format Local Disk (D)

I have a acer laptop with windows 7 OS and it says I need to format the local disk (D) to use it. I have many important official documents there and how can I save those files before I format it. Please can any one help me to save those file.

If you can, clone the drive so you have a backup, then use partition recovery software to try and restore the partition.
