What is a good upgrade for my crossfire 5870 setup?

Hello, I have build a new pc but kept my 2 x 5870's in crossfire. The reason was that I am not really sure which card / cards would be a real upgrade.

I prefer playing games on 1 monitor. For now thats a 1920 x 1080 monitor, but I might upgrade to a monitor with a higher resolution.

I have noticed that I am sensitive for micro stutters / frame time. In some games more then others, probably caused by my crossfire setup.

Should I go for an sli setup (less micro stutter / frame time) or go for a single card solution?

For example I could go for a 3 x sli setup of cheapers cards, a GTX 690 (sort of sli) or buy one GTX 780 / Titan.

Any advice is appreciated

CF 5870 as fast as 7950..even slightly faster..

So, that's mean even upgrading to 7970GE is not a very good option..
and GTX780 just 20% faster than 7970GE..
Titan..$1000 graphics card..? well, if you have money tree in your backyard, then get it..:D

Meanwhile HD9000 class is in the horizon..
Wait till october, HD9970 is really a monster, give a same horse power with 7990 in single card..

Still a bit weird that my old 2 x 5870's still go that strong compared to the much newer cards out there. Perhaps I will go for a GTX 780.

HD 5870 is a very strong card..
King of the hill when it was launch..
Give you same performance with newer card like 650Ti Boost.
Even trail so close with 7850..

So, not weird if the power of these 2 old king, can be compared with strong card today..
