Edit: Forget the $1000 dollar part.
So I was wondering if there are any changes that you guys would make, cost cutting measures (let's not make it more expensive that it already is, etc.)
I'm planning on getting it at the end of the year.
System used for lots of gaming at max settings, intermittent (couples times every few months) editing for pictures, videos, and music, lots of media consumption (articles, youtube, music, anime, manga)
Yes, buying a monitor (if there are better ones for similar prices, please tell!)
Don't need OS discs.
As long as it ships to Hinsdale, NH and has okay DOA/Returns history, it's good. If it can ship to Guam, USA, then even better, but it's hard to find any place that ships to Guam, so Hinsdale, NH.
Treat location as Hinsdale NH. (Microcenter at Cambridge is another option, with relatives staying in Boston)
I hear Sapphire is a good brand for AMD GPUs, but if there are other reputable brands that can beat them, go for it. I like the Antec P280 a lot, but if you got something that can beat it again for price, go for it.
Overclocking: yes, SLI/Crossfire: yes, later on
Resolution: AT LEAST 1920x1080
Reason for upgrading: The last time I bought a desktop computer, it was like 2001. My poor PC is really dragging along now. (I have a relatively powerful HP Envy dv7, but I'd like something more comfortable at home.
I want to make sure there's room for upgrades too. (Crossfire 7970?) I was thinking of getting an i7 for hyperthreading performance, but it got too expensive in my eyes.
I plan on overclocking the i5 CPU near 4.5. Not sure if cooling fan is good enough.
