I'm planning to build a new system by end of June ($1500 budget - can go a bit more). I can't decide between Haswell or Ivy Bridge. But I'm leaning towards Haswell.

My main uses would coding, some 3d work (3ds max, solidworks) and gaming. I'm not a hardcore gamer but would like to be able to play the latest titles.

Planned spec:
MSI Z87 GD65
Core i5-4370K
GTX 780
Samsung 840 256GB SSD / Corsair Neutron 256GB
OCZ ZT 750W PSU
Corsair Vengeance 8GB 1600Mhz
AOC i2367FH 23" Display (hard to decide. Looking for a thin bezel ips)

Alternately I could go for the below hardware if going with Z77:
ASRock Extreme4
i5-3570k

Any input would be appreciated.

Thanks

Hi betrayer_!

Imho, I would go for Haswell. It would not be logical to buy an older generation system when a new one has launched with a strong price point.

Thanks scragnoff. How does the MSI motherboard compare to the ASRock Z87 extreme4. Any opinions?

Hmm. Not really sure if I can answer that question right now. However, if you haven't, check out these Z87 motherboard previews.
