What kind of speed to expect with USB3 card?

Hello,

I'm building a new pc using the Asus M5A97 LE R2.0. Here are the specs at the egg: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131872

It has 2 USB3 ports in the back and no header on the board, and the case I'm using has USB3 in the front. The question then is: if I get a USB3 pci card, what kind of speed can I expect? This isn't a case where the board is all USB2 and I'm trying to add a newer technology. This board has built-in USB3 controller just no header. The board has several pci slots but the fastest pcie will be occupied by the graphics card.

Anyone has any experience with this? Any brand they can recommend?

You can get Data Transfer Rate of up to 5Gb/s with a PCIe 2.0 x1 card. I don't believe there are any PCI cards because the transfer rate thru a PCI interface is not capable of USB 3.0 speeds.

Based on the PCIe slots that I have, if I use the x16 (which is the fastest slot) for the video card, and the USB3 card on the x4 slot, would the speed of the video card be throttled? Will it be throttled all the time or only when I actually use the front USB3 port? I'm guessing the PCIe x1 slot will be of no use?

Expansion Slots
PCI Express 2.0 x16 = 2 (x16, x4)
PCI Express x1 = 2
PCI Slots = 2

I would say the answer to all three questions is no.
