I'm NOT trying to set up dual monitors. My build works with one monitor but not another.
I have built a computer with these components:
CPU: Intel Core i5 3570
Motherboard: ASRock Z77 Extreme3 LGA 1155 Intel Z77 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX
Video card: SAPPHIRE Vapor-X 100358VXL Radeon HD 7770 GHz Edition 1GB 128-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16
Old monitor: Envision 7220
Newer monitor: Asus VH242 Full HD 1080p LCD Monitor
Windows 7
No overclocking, just standard regular PC build
Everything works great - all the components work. Using the old monitor (Envision brand), it works fine.
But when I plug in a newer, larger, HD monitor (Asus brand), it says "No DVI input."
I know the newer monitor works because if I plug it into a Mac Mini it works fine. I've swapped it back & forth and I know the monitor is fine.
I know the PC works because if I use the old non-HD monitor it works fine.
I know the video card works because (using the old monitor) I see the video card in Device Manager and when I update drivers it tells me the driver is up to date.
I know the cables work because I've swapped them back & forth.
I know the power cords and video cables are plugged in firmly because I've taken them out and reseated them many times.
The build has 3 DVI ports (one from the motherboard, 2 from the video card). I've tried plugging in the new monitor in all 3 and all I get is "No DVI input."
I tried plugging the new monitor into the VGA port on the motherboard (using DVI-to-VGA adapter) and then I get "No VGA input."
But when I plug the new monitor into the new PC I only get "No DVI input."
I'm only trying to use one monitor at a time. I'm NOT trying to set up dual monitors. I just want to use the newer monitor with the new build.
I'm stumped - I don't even know the next debugging step.
Any help would be extremely appreciated.
