Looking to get opinions on a budget pc build.

Trying to build a pc for CS:GO that I might be able to upgrade at a latter date for newer games. FPS is obviously the biggest issue for me, but I also might use the box to stream videos or run XBMC. I am a tech savvy guy but I havn't followed component specs or reviews in years, so I am a bit behind when it comes to the specifics. I found a pretty well written an in depth guide with lots of various options.

Making my decision on a mobo first, I was looking at the Gigabyte Intel Z77 LGA 1155 Dual UEFI BIOS ATX Motherboard GA-Z77-DS3H. Is this a good place to start or not? I am looking to buy components from ebay (NIB auctions), as I trying to save as many pennies as possible.Is the guide too outdated already? lol. Also, I have heard from different sources that the i5 processor is better for gaming purposes than the i3? Is this true? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
