Upgrade from GTX 580 to 780? or wait?

I have a stock EVGA GTX 580 that I've been using since it came out back in 2010.

I was considering selling my GTX 580 and then getting the GTX 780 Superclocked.

Should I jump and get it now? or should I wait and see the AMD 9970? I'm a huge Nvidia fan, cause they've never let me down, but it seems like the GTX 780 wasn't a big leap from the GTX 680...

Should I get the Superclocked GTX 780 now? or wait for the AMD 9970?

Definitely wait for HD 9970. Going right now would be a bad idea because your current GPU is efficient enough to fulill your current requirements.

You should wait for next gen GPU. ATI ones are really fantastic too and by no means are inferior. If possible you might want to get HD 997 released then wait for nVidia to release their own line of GPUs to counter ATI and see the prices of ATI falling. That would be the right time to buy good GPUs for less price.

That's kinda what I was planning. Plus it seems like AMD is working their ass's off to take back the crown with the 9970. I love ATI before the got bought up by AMD. The 5xxx series was awesome! and then 6xxx kinda sucked... but it looks like they are on a comeback

6xxx series was basically under-clocked. 7xxx GPUs are stronger than 5xxx GPUs.

I have heard 9xxx series is going to be awesome .. so I recommend waiting.

I agree, by the time HD 9970 contends with GTX 780 (or potentially beating it) the price of GTX 780 should drop to ~$500 and then you can choose from there, you really can't go wrong
