How to scratch off the letters on a CPU?

So I have a used CPU and it doesn't work anymore (pins broken) and the letters on it are somewhat faded.

I was wondering would I be able to scrape off all the letters and numbers with like a knife or something, would that work?

Please don't ask why lol I'm just messing around with it, it's already broken anyways.
