~$300 upgrade, CPU/Motherboard or GPU?

My build looks like this:

Athlon II X3 455
A decent AM3 motherboard
EVGA GTX 460 1GB, overclocked
8GB DDR3 RAM
630W PSU
1080p monitor

I've got about $300 to spend at the moment, and I'm wondering which would be better: upgrading the CPU (probably to a 3570k) or a newer GPU (looking at a 7870 LE or similar). I'd be okay with an AMD CPU as well, but at the moment it looks like the 3570k could last me much, much longer than a 6300 or even an 8320, unless multi-threaded gaming ever catches on. I should've gone with a Phenom from the start, but it seems like a waste to upgrade now.

I can currently max out most games I play at 30-60 FPS (depending on how CPU-heavy they are), although I only really play games a few years old. I guess I'm looking for the most future-proof option; it'd be kind of annoying to have a much better CPU than GPU, but that's what I'm stuck with.

Well if you change the cpu to 3570k you would have to change the motherboard too. the i5 would cost you around $200 maybe a bit less if you buy used. Leaves room for a cheap motherboard. Or you could buy the 7970 or 7950 not 78 for around $300 used which would boost your graphic performance by a bit. For right now the x3 is right about min/rec for most games out there. I think the card would last you longer. But you will have to upgrade the cpu eventually.
