Did you get all the old entries for Java Runtime out of Add and Remove Programmes? Go straight to http://www.java.com and click on Free Java Download - it should start the installation immediately after a short download.

You may need manually to remove it, starting in Programme Files then in the Application Data and Local Settings>Application Data folders of your User Account in Document and Settings. To see some of those folders, you need to go to the Tools menu>Folder Options>View then tick to show hidden files and untick the hide protected system files entry.
