Will a Phenom II X4 955 bottleneck a HD7870 on 1200MHz(core) and 1350MHz(memory) ?

My Phenom was overclocked to 4.0GHz, CPU/NB to 2600MHz and HT Link to 2600MHz. (ASUS M4A89GTD PRO/USB3)

CPU/NB can go up to 2800MHz with 1.33V (but i keep it on 2600MHz - 1.24V), but if it help with tu push graphic card better, I will put it on 2800MHz.

One more question.. If I change priority in task manager from Medium to High, will it help?

a 4ghz phenom x4 shouldnt have an issue with the 7870 with an OC, and changing the priority in task manager will just make the program that has the high priority obviously have priority over other background programs and will be processed first but i dont see changing priority will help much unless ur running alot of programs behind what ur mainly doing

Thank you very much.

And what about CPU/NB? Overclock to 2800MHz (1.33V) or stay with 2600MHz (1.24V) ?

Any suggestions that I can do with my cpu would be helpful. :)

The bottleneck will depend on what resolution you play at but @ 1080 or above it should be fine on most games. The NB speed may help a little but I would be surprised if it was noticeable.

In Crysis 3 CPU Cores in some places go up to 100% (Overclocked to 4.2GHz), and this cpu bottleneck one HD7870 in this game. I was thinking to buy FX8120? Will it be much better in Crysis 3 and other CPU heavy games where Phenom X4 955 can't push HD7870?

Thnaks!

Get a 63xx or 83xx the 81xx & 61xx are little better and sometimes worse than the Phenom. Alternatively you casn wait to see what Steamroller offers around the end os the year (thats what I am doing nothing so far has tempted me away from my Phenom x4).

I have a FX-6350 OC to 4.5 GHz on air and I'm happy about my switch from 965. I'm in the FF14 beta and I'm a hair shy from running the game on max @ 1080. Also note that this game isn't the optimized final product. Cheers. Edit: I forgot to add that it's much easier to cool 6 cores opposed to 8 on air.

Well, if you went to a 6 or 8 core FX, the good news is, if you get a good 990FX board...(like a sabertooth for example)...you would be able to just update BIOS and drop in a new steamroller FX when they hit. The socket will be the same! Plus some of the newest 990FX boards have PCIe 3.0 support as well as other nice features like USB 3.0!

If you wanted to upgrade, I would look at something like a 6300/6350 at minimum...if you want to "go big or go home" then I would look at the 8350. The 8320 is a decent option as well, but the 8350 is higher binned and typically has a little more headroom for OC.

Steamroller won't be supported on the 970 chipset?

It will be, but SLI is not supported on most 970 boards...so depending on GPU config, you may want 990FX

indifferent toward SLI anyway, although I fear the micro stutter.

Now, 970 boards will support CrossFire with AMD cards...

I will buy FX8350 and put it on my ASUS M4A89GTD PRO/USB3. I have CoolerMaster V8. What about overclock? How much can I expect with this board and cooler?

Should probably be able to get at least 4.6 GHz on that CPU with the V8 cooler.
