I'm planning on getting this optical drive for my PC: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

Will it be able to play CDs, DVDs, and BlueRays?

Yes, but OEM/Bulk units like that don't come with a disk. Hence, no codec for playing blu-ray. You will either have to buy one or find a freebie online. I've had good luck with this one:

Couldn't I just use Windows Media Player?

SR-71 Blackbird is right. I was just thinking regular DVD, not blu-ray. My bad.

Win MP doesn't have a codec for that.

Okay, I'm a little confused on what I'd need to do to make the optical drive play DVDs, CDs and Bluerays.
