  1. i'd consider the Stinger for a HTPC build, i already enjoy my Z77 FTW board :D
  2. The Z87 Classified looks sweet!!!

they all look pretty nice, i really want to build a Haswell rig around one of these to see the GUI BIOS, Z77 FTW BIOS is lame looking, but has an abundance of options.
  4. Even more Z87 Boards and still the performance will be relativly similar to the 2xxx and 3xxx gen.. nah ill pass for now :D.

im bulding an HTPC anyways and already have a i5 2400 rig and a 3570K rig so i'll keep with the trend and grab a 4th gen core i5.
  6. Why in 2013 are motherboard makers still only putting usb 2.0 on new platform boards? i was hoping to turn that stinger board into a nice linux nas with some usb 3.0 server hdds.
  7. Other than audio I don't see anything compelling on the classified over the FTW. If it held more memory and a few more extras, perhaps.
  8. On the Z87 FTW it lists this as the PCIe layout:
    4 x PCIe x16 (1x16,2x8,18+2x4,1x8+4+4+1)
    What the heck is 18+2x4?
  9. Its too bad that upgrading to a Haswell CPU and board isn't worth it for us that are on Sandy and Ivy platforms already for a 13% boost and a few degrees lower in temps overall. Not worth spending $600 upgrading over but the boards do look nice. I just upgraded to a GTX 780 and 16gb of ram from 8 so I'm good for a while with my 2600k at 4.5
  10. I never really understood what EVTA offered more than the top ASUS, MSI, Asrock, or Gigabyte boards. they seem to sell to a really niche market...
  11. Great to see more manufacturers making mITX boards, hopefully this trend will continue!
  12. I had the same comment as shadow, why only usb 2.0 on the stinger? Went to the website though, says it supports 6 USB 3.0 in additon to the 2.0. Looks like a typo fortunately.
  13. You have been...de-Classified?

Actually, the stinger does have usb3.0 ports on the back. There are 4 of them. Here are the specs I copied from evga website:
    EXTERNAL I/O
4x Rear Panel USB 3.0 Ports
4x Rear Panel USB 2.0 Ports
Creative Sound Core3D Quad-Core Audio Processor
    1x HDMI
    1x Intel Gigabit Ethernet
    1x E-SATA Ports
    1x Bluetooth 2.1
    1x DisplayPort
    1x HDMI
  15. Ahh good chalk it upto toms not clarifying it in there news. For a sec there i thought Evga was only going to add usb 2.0

I guess it would have been so stupid of them not to add usb 3.0, seen that the z87 chipset natively supports it
