Hey. So I've been thinking of getting a gaming PC for a while now (moving on from PS1, PS2 and PS3). I've listed my specs below so please feel free to comment on whether there is anything I could change/improve in this config. Also, my budget is £1000.

Processor: Intel i5 3570K ***Changed to Intel i5 4670K
Processor fan: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO
Case: Cooler Master HAF 912
Motherboard: MSI Z77A-GD65 ***Changed to ASUS Z87-A
PSU: 700W Corsair 2013 Edition
DVD Drive: Asus DVD Rewriter DRW-24B5ST
Memory: 1TB Seagate Barracuda 7200
SSD: 120GB Samsung 840 Basic
RAM: 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 Corsair Vengeance Jet Black Low Profile
GPU: 2GB EVGA GTX 670 FTW Edition
Wireless adapter: Edimax EW-7612PIn 300Mbps Wireless 802.11
Extra Case Fan: 120mm Fractal Design 1200rpm Case Fan Silent Series Rev2

I included the extra fan as I definitely will be overclocking my GPU.
All of this stuff comes just a few pence higher than £999 on scan.co.uk. I have a friend who's dad owns an electronics store and he said he could give me a free Windows 7 or 8 so I wanted to ask which one I should get. I currently have Windows 7 on my laptop and have never tried Windows 8. However I have seen quite a few bad reviews on it.
Also, the new generation on Intel processors are out (Haswell) so should I get that? Or just stick to my i5 3570K?
Thanks.

I would go with Windows 7. I never liked 8.

It depends. Ivy Bridge is at the end of it's upgrading timeline and Haswell has more upgradability in the future. If you don't care about upgrading, go with the 3570k. It overclocks better and is generally the go to CPU for gaming. If you are going to upgrade a lot, then go with the 4670k.

I probably will be upgrading but in a couple years or so. Should I just go with the 4670K then? Thanks for the reply.

Yeah, because by that time the next set should be out.

Lolno.

Seriously though, I wouldn't go with MSI for motherboards. I wouldn't even buy toilet paper from MSI because it'd probably be missing perforations.

Lool. And WOW. That is bloody expensive. xD. I was just looking at the Asus Z78-A. What would you say about that?

That would be ok. However, I would go for ASUS Z87-PLUS or GIGABYTE Z87X-UD3H (you get a discount with this one) or even an Extreme4.

Yeah sure man. Planning to build it around July time, during the Summer Holidays so I can play to hearts content before being faced with a shitload of exams when the school year starts. xD

Haha. I know that feeling lol. I failed Spanish 2 this time around because of the exams.

670 is a good card. I've got 3 right now xD.

Now I'm definitely gonna start saving up money. Normally, I get money and spend it within the first week. I can't hold on to it for too long without spending it. Lol.
