I was trying to install Windows XP using a Dell copy of XP and on to an old Compaq Presario laptop for my wife. The install appeared to go ok except when I was done and restarted, Windows XP starts and then stops and asks that I install the installation disk. After installing the disc, I get an error message stating "Access is Denied" and I am forced to exit. How can I fix this and/or bypass so that i can remove the install and try again?

I'm surprised you got that far with a Dell CD in another branded PC but that's the reason why it didn't successfully complete. The OEM installation disks are branded for the company which issued it and will only succeed and activate in their own machines.
