Let me start off by saying that my initial goal was to build a 2,000$ gaming rig capable of playing all the latest games across 3 monitors. That said, I picked the Sapphire HD 7970 3GB Vapor-x edt. I want to be able to overclock my graphics card's core clock as close to 1200Mhz as possible and the CPU to the highest stable clock possible as well.
I've already bought the Sapphire 7970 and my case, but I held off on the rest. The rest of my *potential* build is as follows:
Motherboard: ASUS SABERTOOTH Z77 LGA 1155 Intel Z77
CPU: Core i5-3570K 3.4GHz (3.8GHz Turbo) LGA 1155 77W Quad-Core
Cooler: Swiftech H220 Watercooler
GPU: Sapphire Vapor-X HD 7970 GHz Edition 3GB 384-bit GDDR5
SSD: SAMSUNG 840 Pro Series 2.5" 256GB SATA III MLC
HHD: WD Black 1TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5"
Optical Drive: LG Electronics Blu-ray SATA 12X Lightscribe with 3Dplayback
This build comes out to around 1400$ without RAM. If you have any advice, suggestions for RAM, or think I would be better off with a different part that better suits my needs/budget, I'd love to hear it.
