Let me start off by saying that my initial goal was to build a 2,000$ gaming rig capable of playing all the latest games across 3 monitors. That said, I picked the Sapphire HD 7970 3GB Vapor-x edt. I want to be able to overclock my graphics card's core clock as close to 1200Mhz as possible and the CPU to the highest stable clock possible as well.

I've already bought the Sapphire 7970 and my case, but I held off on the rest. The rest of my *potential* build is as follows:

Motherboard: ASUS SABERTOOTH Z77 LGA 1155 Intel Z77
CPU: Core i5-3570K 3.4GHz (3.8GHz Turbo) LGA 1155 77W Quad-Core
Cooler: Swiftech H220 Watercooler
GPU: Sapphire Vapor-X HD 7970 GHz Edition 3GB 384-bit GDDR5
SSD: SAMSUNG 840 Pro Series 2.5" 256GB SATA III MLC
HHD: WD Black 1TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5"
Optical Drive: LG Electronics Blu-ray SATA 12X Lightscribe with 3Dplayback

This build comes out to around 1400$ without RAM. If you have any advice, suggestions for RAM, or think I would be better off with a different part that better suits my needs/budget, I'd love to hear it.

Your not going to be able to play all the latest games on 3 moniters with a 7970ghz Crysis 3 is an insane resource hog, for 3 moniters you would need dual titans for that or dual 780's. Crossfire atm fails and gets half of its possible fps . For alot of older games you should be fine in a 3 way setup but to say youll play the latest games on 3 screens isnt very practicle

You might need that sort of setup if you're crazy about anti-aliasing and playing on the highest graphics settings possible. I think a 7970 running at 1150+Mhz will be able to run whatever I throw at it as long as I tune down the graphics a bit.

Thats not what im getting at the resoloution of three moniters is insane running crysis 3 at that resoloution is basically impossible unless your settings are low ...

I wasn't excluding crossfire from my list of options. I was just going to live with slightly less than awesome graphics until the price of a second card dropped and/or crossfire was debugged.
