Ten years ago I used to build and tinker with desktops; now I'm just confused with the new buzzwords and tech, especially when it comes to CPUs.

I currently have an AMD X2 duel core 4800+ 2.50ghz, with 3gb of RAM and crappy NVIDIA 6150SE on-board video. Most of the time it's fine, but if I have iTunes open and playing a song while doing anything else it can be painfully slow.

I would like to spend in the $250-300 range, with video that'll work on my 22" 1920x1080 monitor without stuttering (I can't do full-screen Netflix without significant stuttering). I'm looking for a CPU/mobo/RAM combo that I can effectively swap in for my current set-up. I like to play some older games, but nothing graphic intensive.

I have a LiteON 250w PSU.

I'm having a rough go parsing through all the options on newegg.com, etc., so I'm open for any and all advice/good buys that people know of. Thanks!
