I am planing to buy a mid range gaming rig with high performance,i am planing to have this-
-Intel Core i3-3210 Processor
-MSI B75A-G43 GAMING Motherboard
-AMD VAPOR-X HD 7950 OC with Boost 3 GB GDDR5 Graphics Card
-G.Skill RipjawsX DDR3 8 GB
-OCZ Vertex 3 60 GB SSD
-Corsair VS550 550 Watt PSU
** I have a doubt whether i should spend money on processor and get i5 and GPU to 7870 or be with this for max performance**

Can't help you with the i3 / i5 question (My background is with AMD) but one thing you could look at graphics wise to ease up your budget is the Sapphire Radeon HD 7870 XT. I was watching benchmarks and game performance for it on YouTube and was very impressed. The question is: are you an overclocker? If so the 7950 is still the better call, but the tests I saw (on multiple videos) made the 7870 XT a terrific option if parring back your budget is an issue.

The best advice I can give you regarding your GPU / CPU balance is to think of a high end game you want to play that has a benchmark, go to YouTube, and see what GPUs people are pairing your card of choice with. I'm sure there are far more technically sound suggestions then this (and I'd love to know what they are) but this is generally where I start and then I come to forums like these to fine tune things.

Good luck with your build. :)

I would definitely recommend the i5 as the i3 would probably bottleneck you in a lot of games, especially in RTS games.
This chart shows you the performance difference between the 7870 and 7950 http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/548?vs=550
And it honestly isn't a big difference, not as big as the i5 will make over the i3.

Yes
I agreed with scorch. Go with i5. It is much better than i3.

yup go with the i5 and u will not be bottlenecked;the i5-3470 would be cheap and would deliver good performance, the i5-3570k would also be a good choice which is rs.3000 more than i5-3470 and quite a big difference:)
why don't you go with the hd 7870XT,it's a class performer and it will save your money for getting an i5 and you'll get hell of a performance from your rig
