i own an Adaptec 5805 with a BBU unit installed. recently the BBU has said that it fails as a battery and that it needs replacing. I was wondering if even though it is not the 5805z model can I attach the same capacitor to the BBU board and have it work? or are they completely different voltages? it would make sense if they were. Is there anyway to get a capacitor instead of a battery on a 5805 not the 5805z that comes with a capacitor?
if not. do i need to replace the whole bbu with board and all? can I try to recharge the battery out of the case? can i buy any li-ion battery that is marked 3.7 volts with the correct connection and have that work as well? just need some information from a pro. thanks
