Im building a pc soon and the monitor I'm getting is 1920x1080p which I know will be just fine with 3gb of VRAM, but at some point I'm planning on buying an LG 27' ips screen at 2560x1440p and was wondering if the gtx 780 would be enough to run next gen games smoothly with only 3gb of VRAM?

Other questions: I know that SLI doesnt increase the actual VRAM of the system, just the processing time of every frame, but would SLI solve the problem of not having enough VRAM?

3GB VRAM is enough for triple monitors at 5760 x 1080. So, I would certainly think 2560x1440 wouldn't be an issue. It's more than enough for pixels. And unless game textures grow exponentially in the next few years, I would feel safe with 3GB. Heck, I'd feel safe with 2GB for right now.

No, SLI will still require the same amount of VRAM per card for rendering each frame in alternate frame rendering mode. In split frame rendering, I;m not sure. But SFR isn't used much anymore.
