Best Setup for the GPU and CPU that I want

Hello, I am looking to switch to PC gaming and I have been looking around and doing my research and I know what CPU and GPU I want. Only problem is I don't know the first thing about sockets, connections, and slots. With the given information can anyone fill in the gaps to complete my PC for me?

CPU- AMD FX-6100 3.30ghz 6 core
GPU- Radeon HD 7970 GHZ boost

You will need a MB with an AMD AM3+ socket for that CPU. It will also work in most AM3 socket boards, but they are nearing obsolescence. But may I suggest the newer, better FX-6300 instead.
