Ati hdmi audio, mic jack as line-in

Hello there, I have the ati hdmi audio chipset and updated drivers, the thing is that I want to use the mic jack as line-in, because I have a Dell Studio 1535 and it doesn't have a line-in jack. I want to connect my guitar to the laptop and I don't know any other way. Thank You!

Not sure if retasking would work (you can google for some hints and test - ex: http://voices.canonical.com/david.henningsson/2011/11/29/turn-your-mic-jack-into-a-headphone-jack/ )
But I think that an USB audio card would work: ex: http://www.usbgear.com/USBG-X4S.html
Look for one that supports your operating system (Vista, 7, XP etc).
