Optiplex 745 Ram upgrade HELP

I want to buy some ram off a friend but his ram is PC 5400 and mine is pc2-53000 I was wondering will it work on my optiplex I have the desktop version not the mini tower.

Possibly, not sure on that model PC, but HP is and has been known to use DRAM with proprietary timings (advanced), not sure if this does or not...if it's a friend and wants to sell , will prob let you give it a try, won't hurt anything

From the look of it, both are compatible but that alone cannot guarantee it to work. Sometimes it may work as mentioned by Tradesman1 or sometimes it simply won't. Make sure the memory is a Non-ECC memory and the memory size must be below 2GB per module in other words modules above 2GB are incompatible. I think the memory should run fine, if it does not then try it after a BIOS update. Hope that helps your cause, if that's a no go then you could try getting the memory from some online vendors. You can try crucial or Memorystock. Good luck.
