Hello, I am just getting into the field professionally and want to practice and learn on my own. I will be getting adobe cs6 production suite and want a computer that can handle the demands better than my HP HDX 16 (I know it's horrible, but I have learned a lot with it). I have never learned about computer parts and have been cramming this week. Here are my questions...

1) I am going with an i7 cpu. 3770k and 4770k are on sale and seem to rate really high. I am siding with the 4770k, but should I consider getting the 6 core 3930K? Even if it means a cheaper motherboard and or graphics card? Or should I go with the 4770k get a better MB and Graphics card. What is more important in terms of rendering and overall speed and performance?

2) What should I really be looking for in a MB? I assume at least 2 USB3.0 but not sure about how many pci ports I need or the differences between 2.0 and 3.0.

3) I have seen the benchmarks and the Quadro isn't the best option... but what is for my budget? is the gtx660ti better or the 670/680? would the higher ones be overkill or not used? What does that depend on?

4) I will get a small SSD (60gb-120gb) for the OS, does the hhd really matter as long as its 7200? What should I be looking for in a hard drive? I was thinking 1tb.

5) I want 32gb of ram. What is the best in my budget? How much should I invest in memory/what am I looking for?

6) Other than a blu ray rewrite able what else could I need to really get started?

thank you so much this week has been overwhelming with all the possible options. What can I fine tune and what matters more? 6 core over graphics or 4 core with a better video card? or is it in the memory? Please help!

yes you need the2011 build and 3930k. What you do not need is expensive GPU GTX 650 or fasrter is fine.

What you need is SSD Like samsung pro 256GB and smaller 60-64GB. Then you need 2 HDD to raid 0
Like 2 or 3Tb seagate or WD and one HDD where you put your final material.

For mother board asus X-70 PRO maybe best choice. For video card you do not benefit taking faster card than GTX 650.

Memory you need 32GB or more. More is better. So if you can take 64GB memory.

550w good glod label psu like rosewill is fine:

CPU cooler : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835608040

If ypu want more fast video work be done then you need two 256GB SSD to RAID 0 and one smaller. This you can upgrade later if you think you need. You can start with 2 SSD.

Such rubbish.

He doesn't need 32GB or even 64GB RAM... It's "nice" but not necessary most likely.

4GB is minimum for such applications, 8GB is recommended and therefore 16GB is sweet.

The cash is better spent elsewhere if you ask me.

And Rosewill PSUs are best avoided I believe.

A 356GB SSD?! That'll be super expensive and is NOT worth it.

256GB is currently the max, before price per GB becomes too insane in SSDs.

If plan is do bit more demanding work. That is really what you need.

And Rosewill PSUs are best avoided I believe.
Why? maybe the best PSU maker there is right now.
Maybe you need to read this: http://www.hardwaresecrets.com/article/Rosewill-CAPSTONE-550M-Power-Supply-Review/1584

Gives you total 625w to 100% load. Not bad for a 550w PSU :D
And read final words too :D http://www.hardwaresecrets.com/article/Rosewill-CAPSTONE-550M-Power-Supply-Review/1584/11

Sorry about that 3 Was wrong input ment to put 2 but slipped to 3 . My mistake.
2* 512GB is better :D

No one did ask you nothing and this for professional video edit work machine. If you want to do 3D and other stuff like pro then thiis kind of build is must.
If you 3D or other stuff that is only way to go. It is not a gaming machine.

pic_disp.php

It is about the same thing in video editing.

thank you so much, this is very helpful. questions..
How do i total up the power i need to run?
I can't find the 70 pro MB.. did you mean the x79 models?
what is the deal with raid and how do i set that up?
how many gbs should i have in the gpu?

For PSU? The 550w is enough for this build I did post. The pc part picker makes warning if PSU is too small. You can add like GTX 770 and PSU is fine with it.
PCPartPicker part list: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/15z00
But if you put 320w PSU maybe you get a warning.
If you want more like 650w this is good:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817182083&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-_-na-_-na-_-na&cm_sp=&AID=10446076&PID=3938566&SID=
Id do have 4 pci-e 6+2 cables included. But that 550w gives 620w if you need so why take bigger PSU?
Not even two video cards takes more than 450 to 500w. maybe is some test they take more but not in normal use.

I can't find the 70 pro MB.. did you mean the x79 models?
Yeah sorry about that too did mean the Asus X-79 PRO.
what is the deal with raid and how do i set that up?
When you use windows 7 or 8 you need to just put right bios values if it do not work correctly in first boot.
Depending on what motherboard you are using. Manual tells what to do. Maybe better load new bios to motherboard first. I have other motherboard so if I tell you something it maybe do not work in asus.
But RAID configuration is easy to do. Look this:

how many gbs should i have in the gpu?
It do not really matter in video editing. game needs more memory and better video cards. 1-2GB is enough.
This video tells something else to video card choice but we know more now than he did when he posted that video. But good tips to HDD set.
Look this video and second part too. Tells lot in end.

Thanks are always nice to have. Hope you get build that is good for what you do with it.
It is expensive but that is only thing that really works. Sorry about that. 4770k do works but it takes much more time to do the job. This is also depending video size and other things.

thank you so much.. well i did it. this is my build. what do you think?
http://pcpartpicker.com/p/15VkG

Looks really good to me. Overkill PSU but it is gold label on so why not.
SSD is bit small. But if you think you do not need bigger why not.
And you can buy other SSD in future if you need one. Then you have two :)
And it is under 2000 so it is in price range like you did wish.
Nice build. Nice summer to you! Remember post photo of build. When you get it working :)
