Should I buy a 770 or wait for 8970 :(

What do you guys think? How much better (if at all) will the 8970 be compared to the 770? I really want to try pshysx as well and there's a good deal for a 770 right now for $399...but people are telling me that the 8970 will be out soon and they say it will destroy the 770..advice guys?

i7 3820 at 4.3
32gb gskillx 1600mhz
256gb vertex 4 ssd
1tb hitachi 7200rpm hdd
msi big bang x79 mobo
xfx 1250w psu

If you don't have a GPU, a 770 won't be bad per say...

I don't know about the next AMD cards.

I think gtx 770will be better when AMD GPU comes. Because ATI gpu's price will be higher than 770. It's performance is great as price.
2. U have 1250w PSU. U can sli with gtx 770. It will be great and much much better than ATI 8970. U can buy 1 gpu now & for sli later when u got budget.

Thank you for the replies. I currently have a 560TI, so I dont game much as I prefer ultra settings. I had a 7970 previously but sold it due to bad coil whine and not wanting to deal with RMA process and being without a video card for a few weeks. So I sold it for 300 bucks and a 560ti, which isnt a bad deal. Now its time to upgrade. So far I'm steering towards the 770 =D..I have had two 6970's in the past years..never dealing with CF again. So two 770's down the road would be killer since we all know SLI is much better than shitFire.

Same here, but I wouldn't be buying two 770's right off the bat. I would buy one now, and purchase another down the line if need be. I'd love to have a 780, but I cant spend that much $ as of now and I'm inpatient..I wanna game on ultra

Hey x79, I have a 1920x1080 samsung 23" 3d monitor..cant remember exact name. Was looking to get a 2560x1440p monitor when I have the cash for it. The 7970 is a good contender yes but benchmarks clearly show the 770 destroys it in almost every aspect.

I know .. I wont be upgrading my monitor for a while anyways..when that time comes I could always just SLI. I'm guessing your on the x79 platform (elite platform ftw!) lol, whats your specs?
