Minecraft and GTX660ti!?

I've just got my new PC today, downloaded minecraft, it runs fine for about 5 minutes then when the temperature of the GPU rises to around 50, it just starts to lag insanely bad, so bad that I cant even play! Why is this happening!?!

i5 3570k I think I may need to purchase some case fans as at the moment I only have the CPU fan and the fan inside the GPU.
