So I am big console gamer and I love playing minecraft FTB. After the next gen consoles didn't look worth it and I can really only run minecraft at tiny render distance on my laptop, I thought it would be worth trying to build a gaming computer.

So I have been reading a lot of your forums here and you guys look very helpful but many of the questions asked are almost a year old. So i wanted to ask this question with all the newer motherboards and such out. :??:

So I think I have decided the CPU will be an Intel i5 - 3570k, I looks like the best for a budget and I want to learn overclocking.

As far as motherboards go whats best for that kind of CPU?

Here a few i found
- ASRock Z77E-ITX
- ASRock Z77 Pro3 LGA 1155 Intel Z77 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s
- ASUS P8Z77-V ATX Intel Motherboard
- ASRock Z77 Extreme4 ATX Intel Motherboard

but are there better cost effective motherboard on the market? :??:

Depends on how far do you want to push your 3570k to. If 4.5ghz is good enough then even the Z77 Pro3 would be sufficient. Beyond that I'd suggest the Z77 Extreme4. And don't get the Z77E-ITX unless you want to build a mini ITX system.

Why don't you try a haswell CPU?

For the 3570k I recommend a Gigabyte Z77 UD3H, UD4H or UD5H based on your budget

For a Haswell i would recommend a Gigabyte Z87 UD3H

thanks guys,

so my friend recommended a ASUS P8Z77-V PRO LGA 1155 Intel Z77 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard but is it worth the extra money?

and no I don't want to build a mini ITX system.

as for a haswell CPU i was reading about it and it want not that much bigger of an upgrade from the 3rd gen and i was figuring buying 3rd gen stuff would save me some money no?

also the ASRock Z77 Pro3 is inexpensive but what do i lose compared to the..

ASUS P8Z77-V PRO LGA 1155 Intel Z77 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard

or

ASRock Z77 Extreme4 ATX Intel Motherboard

and GPU's have me lost, can you use a AMD GPU on a Intel CPU ... i think you can but is there any restrictions to my CPU as far as GPU's go?

ASRock Z77 Extreme4 ATX Intel Motherboard

if your build has a budget less than 1100 in total, you shouldnt even consider overclocking as you need to max out your GPU and include a SSD in your build.

id rather configure an entire build for you rather than just put out a board recommendation. makes things properly balanced

and oh a budget? I want to stay under 1 grand

why 2 hard drives? I see that 1 is SSD. Also why the Gigabyte board? and dam that is a nice gpu!
