I'm also near a fry's too, by budget is around $500 and I'm also looking for four more gigs of ram, and a better video card. Any advice on anything that could help though is nice.

(To give you an idea how old this rig is and how much it cost me)

I Can play Star craft 2 everything highest settings with about 31fps (with indirect shadows off) on I get around 18fps
and I get strange lighting a shading issues where you see lines. I have to optimize to get a better out come to around 47fps

Video card id go with a 770gtx and the same two sticks of ram u already have because having matching ram is better than mixing, unless u want to sell ur 2 sticks and buy 8gb new.

so 770gtx = $400 + $42 same 4gb ram totals about $450

for the gpu id go with a aftermarket design from asus/msu/evga/gigabyte, and if u get new ram other than the 4gb kit then id look into corsair vengeance, gskill sniper or ripjaws, and kingston hyper x

Other than the parts u mentioned u want upgraded they will help u the most with fps, everything else is great already so 8gb total and a newer card is all u need and want lol

and I guess I'll buy the same two sticks if I can, but if you'd recommend 8gigs what would you get? Because I wouldn't mind selling my ripjaws

Yes a thats the one, and well i personally wouldnt get the galaxy as havent had one and with other brands i know at the same pricing but get what u want lol

For the ram I like Gskill sniper, kingston hyper x beast/predator, corsair vengeance/ vengrance pro, corsair dominator in a 8gb (2x4gb) kit in prob 1866 as 1600 is similar pricing and im looking now u can get 2133 2x4gb gskill sniper for $70 compared to other brands at 1600 at the same price.

With what u have and ur purpose i dont think getting anything higher than 1600 is rlly useful but its nice to have but since pricing is similar id go for wat u like the best for the cost and its speed. Again u could just go out and buy the other 4gb of ur ripjaws but up to u
